Dr. Karen Liem is a registered clinical psychologist practising in Hong Kong. She offers psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, couples, and families presented with psychological issues or relationship problems. She is specialising in providing treatment for psychological trauma or mental disorders. She is one of the few clinical psychologists in Hong Kong who has been intensively trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy. She has chosen psychodynamic psychotherapy as her specialisation during her doctoral degree in clinical psychology where she received vigorous training and supervision of clinical cases. She also underwent training analysis four times a week (Training analysis is an important means to enrich a clinician's personal and professional development for providing effective psychoanalytic treatment for patients). She is also equipped with knowledge and experience in providing cognitive-behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, accelerated dynamic therapy, and EMDR. Before she joined private practice, she has more than 10 years of clinical experience in the mental health field working at different mental health settings including general medical and psychiatric clinics, non-government organisations for persons with mental health disorders, local universities, community counselling centres, psychiatric hospital, psychiatric day treatment centres, and rehabilitation centres.
